+ Peter Gutierrez Stars in ‘Moonlight and Magnolias’ at Daytona Playhouse
Palm Coast resident Peter Gutierrez, well-know to local audiences for his performances at City Repertory, Flagler Playhouse and LimeLight Theatre returns to Daytona Playhouse to star in Moonlight and Magnolias, a comedy by Ron Hutchinson. Gutierrez plays David Selznick, who has shut down production of his new epic, Gone with the Wind. He summons screenwriter Ben Hecht, played by Earl Levine, and Victor Fleming, played by Robert O. Dimsey, from the set of The Wizard of Oz. He locks the doors and on a diet of bananas and peanuts, the three men labor over five days to fashion a screenplay. The show will begin 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1. Tickets are $16 for adults, $14 for seniors 55+ and $5 for 18 and under. Call 255-2431. The Daytona Playhouse is located at 100 Jessamine Blvd., Daytona Beach.

+ Weldon Ryan to show work in Daytona show
Flagler County artist Weldon Ryan will feature work at the Mary McLeod Bethrune Performing Arts Center/Visual Arts Gallery. The exhibit “Caribbean Reverie: The Land & The People” will hold an opening reception 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at 640 Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Bld., Daytona Beach.


+ Carlsen to feature manatees in photographic show
Ocean Art Gallery in Flagler Beach is holding an opening reception 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, for photographic artist Bob Carlsen.
For this opening, Carlsen will feature twelve recently taken photographs of manatees in Blue Springs. He wishes to heighten the awareness of Manatees in the springs and how they have been scarred by boaters in the waterways they share. He hopes these pieces will give all who view them a sense of caring for these ancient mammals.
Carlsen is a resident artist in the Ocean Art Gallery, president of the Photography Club of Flagler County and photographer for the Flagler Playhouse. His art will be featured for the entire month of February.

+ Anchor Boat Club celebrates Change of Watch
On the same weekend that our country inaugurated our President and Vice-President, the Anchor Boat Club of Palm Coast installed its new officers for the year 2013. This is an annual event that is celebrated in January.
The celebration is called Change of Watch and takes place at a formal dinner dance.
The new Board of Directors are Heather Hart, Violet VanGordon, Christy Miller and Roseann Miller. Officers are Treasurer Linda Stibich, Rear-Commodore Jackie Thierwechter, Fleet Captain Jack Antonelli, Secretary Barbara Eveleth, Commodore Eugene Tontodonato and Vice-Commodore Joe Sermarini.

+ Local NAACP swears in officers
The flagler County Branch NAACP recently inducted its executive committee for the upcoming year. Members include Jeroline McCarthy, at-large member; Lawrence Smith, at-large member; Bryant H.
