The Seaside Shoppe, owned by Sally Pillittieri, burned down early Monday.

The shop, which sold T-Shirts, souvenirs and candles, is located at 601 S. Central Ave., in Flagler Beach. Firefighters were dispatched at 5:27 a.m., and when they arrived on scene minutes later, the fire in the store was in its attic.

This presented a problem, said Stephen Cox, one of the firefighters currently helping to head the Flagler Beach Fire Department. The building had been renovated in the past, preventing firefighters from gaining access to the attic.

The structure was completely lost, Cox said. There were no injuries.

Firefighters left the scene at 12:40 p.m. Flagler County Fire Rescue and the Palm Coast and Bunnell fire departments also assisted.

“It was always my first choice to take my friends and family to shop when they came to visit,” said Elizabeth Panter Mac Donald on the Palm Coast Observer’s Facebook page.

Others said they hope Pillittieri rebuilds.
