+ Flagler Beach seeks developer for Ocean Palm Golf Club
After purchasing the defunct Ocean Palm Golf Club at foreclosure auction last month, the city of Flagler Beach has spent about $5,000 in maintenance on the overgrown property. This is just the start to the cost of rehabilitating the property, City Manager Bruce Campbell said at last week's Flagler Beach City Commission meeting.
Campbell asked commissioners if he could put out a request for bidders for developers who might be interested in entering a joint partnership with the city to restore the property to a golf course or some other form of recreation. The commission approved this request. Campbell will report on the request’s results at a future commission meeting.
+ County offers free storm readiness seminar
A free workshop will demonstrate how to storm proof a home and offer energy saving tips at 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 18, at the Flagler County Emergency Operations Center.
The workshop is hosted by Property Accessed Clean Energy, a new program from the Florida Division of Emergency Management that provides low-interest loans that are paid back through an assessment on your property. PACE will be providing information on alternative energy and energy savings tips.
+ Smoke testing planned for F-section streets
Smoke testing will begin April 22 for sewer lines on Palm Coast streets that begin with the letters FOR, FIE, FIF, FIR, FIT, FLE, FLA, FLI, FRA, FRE, FEL and FAN.
Palm Coast will be smoke testing the sanitary sewer lines on those streets by forcing smoke into the sanitary sewer lines. It will check for leaks, breaks and defects in the system.
The smoke is odorless, creates no fire hazard and will not enter homes or businesses unless there is defective plumbing or dried-up sink traps or floor drains. The smoke test should only affect homes for approximately 15 minutes. Homes affected by smoke testing will find a door tag hanging on the front door.
Prior to testing, residents are asked to pour two gallons of water in the seldom-used sinks or floor drains to prevent sewer gases, smoke or odors from entering the premises. If smoke does enter your home during testing, immediately remove yourself from the building and notify the crews that are conducting the test or call the city
