Rock 'N’ Rib Festival will kick off 5 p.m. Friday, April 12, at Town Center with four country music acts competing in the $100,000 Texaco Country Showdown and a Backyard BBQ Contest for amateur barbecue enthusiasts. Local singer David Lane and performing artists The AfterWhile from neighboring Volusia County are among the showdown competitors.

Rock 'N’ Rib reopens noon Saturday and continues until about 10 p.m., wrapping up with an Eagles tribute band, The Long Run, at 9 p.m., immediately followed by fireworks.

Rounding out the weekend is a carnival, a variety of business and food booths, and Wildlife Tree Animal Discovery programs with animals from every continent on earth except Antarctica. Discovery shows will be at 5 and 7 p.m. Friday and 1, 3, 5 and 7 p.m. Saturday. The carnival will continue noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 14.

Admission has been dropped to $3 this year, and children 12 and under are free. Bring lawn chairs, but coolers and pets are not allowed.
