Sept. 11
Side swiped
3:18 p.m. — 1500 Block of Water Oak Road. Burglary. A victim stated she was home alone when she heard the side door of her residence shaking. The victim stated that she was very scared and started screaming that the cops were coming, at which point the door stopped shaking. The victim looked out the window next to the door and saw a white male wearing jeans and a dark shirt running from her door toward the rear of the residence to a small, dark pickup truck.
Deputies responded to the scene to set up a perimeter and to be on the lookout for the suspect. No contact was made with the suspect, but deputies found one witness who said he saw a small blue truck drive up and down the road several times but never saw him stop. The witness and victim both completed sworn written statements.
As fast as you can
10:35 p.m. — First Block of Karas Trail. Suspicious Incident. A victim contacted the Sheriff’s Office and stated she had just seen a thin white male run from near the front of her residence to the south side of her residence into the wood line.
Deputies canvassed the area of the wood line and found negative results. The resident requested that the deputies check her backyard, which they did, to no result. The resident said she had received a suspicious phone call and asked that her residence be placed on extra watch.
Sept. 13
Man wakes up to alarm clock
3:06 a.m. — First Block of Prairie Lane. Burglary. A deputy was dispatched to a residence where a victim stated that at approximately 2:45 a.m., he was awoken by his alarm clock going off.
The victim stated that he thought he had heard a male’s voice outside in his backyard, and then he noticed that his rear sliding glass door was possibly tampered with. The deputy examined the sliding glass door and observed what appeared to be possible pry marks on the upper right-hand side of the sliding glass door.
The deputy attempted to lift fingerprints from the door to negative results. The victim completed a written statement.
Twin trouble
6:10 p.m. — First Block of Prince Patric Lane. Stolen Vehicle. A victim told a deputy that after his daughter left for the Navy in March, he parked her vehicle on his driveway and never moved it. Because his daughter was coming home last weekend, the victim decided to clean her vehicle, but when he went to open the vehicle, it would not unlock.
The victim thought the battery was dead, and he hired a locksmith to open the vehicle. At that time he bought a new battery and replaced the old one, but the vehicle still would not turn on.
The victim then got the vehicle towed to a dealership. The victim spoke to the dealership a few days later and learned that the car he had dropped off was not his daughter’s, though it was identical to it and contained her belongings. The vehicle was reported stolen in June. It was determined that at some point, the victim’s car was swapped with the stolen one. A stolen vehicle affidavit was completed.
