+ Snowball Express hits Flagler
Meet The Big Easy Café’s newest addition. It’s a completely battery operated, frozen snowball vehicle, and Walt and Nicole Mazie, the café’s owners, have big plans for it.

They’re bringing it to community events, including fundraisers and festivals, and they also plan to take it beachside to provide treats to surfers, swimmers and sunbathers.

The Snowball Express was modified from a Chrysler Global Electric Motorcar, which is a street-legal electric car that has a 40-mile range on a full charge and reaches speeds up to 25 mph. The GEM vehicles were also used in the 2010 film, “The Green Lantern.”

The Big Easy Café is at 213 S. Second St., in Flagler Beach. Call 439-3944.

+ Hammock Wine & Cheese Shoppe under new ownership
Elke and Stephen Gallagher purchased The Hammock Wine & Cheese Shoppe, which has been open in Flagler County for nearly 10 years and is known for its wine tasting and arts events.

“We plan on continuing to offer live entertainment, and we are revitalizing the art gallery,” Elke Gallagher said in a statement. “We have a lot going on right now (with) bringing in new landscaping and updating the gallery.”

The shop will now feature live music four times per week and will host a featured artist monthly in its gallery. The first featured artist is Palm Coast resident Sandra Pierce.

The store will continue to host wine tasting events and sell gift baskets.

The Hammock Wine & Cheese Shoppe is at 5368 N. Oceanshore Blvd., in Palm Coast. Call 445-3357.
