The Grand Club hires two, restructures service

The Grand Club, which operates two golf courses in Palm Coast — the Pine Course and the Cypress Course — has made some changes to the full-service restaurants and banquet facilities it operates at both locations.

The club hired a new food and beverage manager, Keith Claybrook, and a new chef, Paul Ledwich, to build its banquet business.

Many people don’t realize that The Grand Club is semi-private, meaning that while memberships are available for those who golf at the facilities frequently, all of the club’s facilities are open to the public as well, said Brian Malanson, chief executive officer and chief operating officer of the club.

With this change, The Grand Club’s Chef Osvaldo Cuenca will move to the Cypress Facility, where he originally worked. Cuenca moved to the Pine Course to compensate when it lost a chef several months.

Building up the staff again will help the club be more accessible to the public for both dining and for banquets, Malanson said.

Workers, volunteers and vendors attending an Access Flagler event Nov. 2 were met with a surprise: Carrabba’s Italian Grill arrived and prepared lunch for them.

Mike Xifaras, the proprietor of the new Carrabba’s restaurant, which is currently under construction in Palm Coast in Cobblestone Village near Walmart, was there with an entire crew preparing a meal of salad, ziti and grilled chicken.

“Carrabba’s has a special interest in community relations,” Xiafara said in a statement. “We regularly work with schools and churches.”

Access Flagler is a monthly event, which is coordinated by Flagler County Social Services and brings service agencies and residents that qualify for the services together. It’s held 1-4 p.m. the first Friday of every month in Cattleman’s Hall.

Carrabba’s in Palm Coast is on track for a Dec. 3 opening.
