The Federal Communications Commission has approved a new radio station in Flagler County. According to General Manager David Ayres, the station will be America’s music: Country 98.7 FM. The first broadcast date is Aug. 1.

The station is added to the roster of stations managed by Ayres: WNZF News Radio 1550AM and 106.3 FM, Beach 92.7 FM and Easy Oldies 100.9 FM.

Country 98.7 will cover St. Augustine to Daytona Beach, Ayres said via email. The format will be “today’s country, with a blend of past hits,” he said. There will be a live morning show, local DJs, local news, weather and traffic. Fox news and local weather will be broadcast at the top of every hour.

Also, Ayres said he is building new studios now and expanding into another unit. Click here for a profile on Ayres, who was one of our People to Watch in 2012.
