The fourth-grade students at Wadsworth Elementary School passed the writing portion of the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test with flying colors, according to numbers released last week by the state.

Wadsworth had 91.1% of its fourth-grade students earn a passing grade of 3. (The passing grade originally was a 4, but was lowered back to a 3 at an emergency meeting by the state.)

Additionally, 62.3% of the students earned a 4 or better.

Wadsworth’s numbers were higher than the district and the state averages.

In the district, 85.78% of fourth-graders received a 3 or higher; whereas 37.89% earned a 4 or higher. Across Florida, 80.83% of fourth-grade students passed with a 3 or higher; 27% passed with a 4 or higher.

Wadsworth’s mean score, a 3.73, was substantially higher than the state’s mean score of 3.3
