The A.M. Guild at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church joined forces with students at the church’s school to participate in a Heifer International fundraiser to purchase milk cows for needy families in Uganda.

Together, $1,900 was raised, with the students raising $503. Because of the collaboration, three milk cows will be sent.

Students also had a cow-naming contest. Kindergartner Madison Leonard won, with Joney-cow. She picked the name because Joney was her grandmother’s name. Second-grade student Holly Darling named the second cow Cowmella and the third cow was named Lizzie by third-grader Frederick Lillywhite because the school’s patron saint is St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.

This is the second year the guild participated in Heifer International.
