+ Potato Festival proceeds to benefit Bunnell businesses
Bunnell Chamber of Commerce President Michael Barr announced June 4 that May’s fourth-annual Potato Festival was the city’s best yet.

“It went off fantastically,” Barr said, citing the near-5,000 people who came to this year’s event. “If we continue this progress and success, (the Potato Festival) will become an integral part of our community.”

All the proceeds collected, he added, have been put in an account to be used for Bunnell’s new Business Improvement Program.

With between $5,000 and $8,000 currently available, the program will donate grants to local businesses for landscaping, signage and other aesthetic improvements.

Companies do not need to be chamber members to win, and similar programs are being established in Flagler Beach and Palm Coast, as well.

“This was setting the example that if all the pieces and parts of our community come together, we can demonstrate success,” Barr added.
