The following is an adapted press release from Flagler County:

Flagler County Fire Rescue will be presented with $10,301 in fire extinguisher training equipment and a trailer courtesy of a grant from Firehouse Subs 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 19, in front of the Firehouse Subs, at 1475 Palm Coast Parkway.

Flagler County Fire Marshal Bob Growick applied for a competitive grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and was recently notified that the department had received the grant. Representatives from Firehouse Subs will present the equipment to Growick and Flagler County Fire Rescue Chief Don Petito.

The fire extinguishing equipment will be used to conduct training for various types of fires and is useful in teaching techniques in using an extinguisher. The training equipment does not require the clean up needed when using a dry chemical extinguisher.

Flagler County Fire Rescue Chief Don Petito said the equipment will assist in the department’s ability to conduct the extinguisher training at schools and all types of groups and organizations.

“Having a fire extinguisher handy is good,” Petito said. “Knowing how to use it safely in an emergency is better. This grant will help us provide training to the community.”

The community is invited to the presentation in front of Firehouse Subs in Palm Coast.
