As Wadsworth Elementary School Principal Robin Dupont walked into a fourth-grade classroom Tuesday, Feb. 14, the students turned around and immediately raised their hands. They were all hoping for the chance to identify which historical figure Dupont was dressed as.

“Betsy Ross!” they said.

Dupont wasn’t the only faculty member playing a part. Teachers and faculty members, along with district leaders and volunteers, all chose historical figures to portray for the school’s Who’s Who in History Day.

Students were introduced to the project and notified of the historical figures planning to visit their school beforehand. They learned in class and conducted individual research over the past several weeks to prepare for the event and compete in a friendly competition.

For the class to get credit for a historic figure, at least one student from the class had to correctly identify the famous person and explain the person’s contribution to society.
