+ Santa Maria del Mar completes special needs class
Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church, in Flagler Beach, completed its first special-needs faith-formation class.

The class prepares students to receive the sacraments of first penance, holy communion and confirmation. Two of the students will be making their first penance and holy communion in November.

“We are committed to an individualized self-contained classroom setting in which each student receives one-on-one instruction in accordance to their skill/intellectual level,” said Maribel Alvarado, religion education teacher.

Santa Maria del Mar is the fist church in the Diocese of St. Augustine to complete a special-needs class.
