The Florida Yards & Neighborhoods Series will be held 10 a.m. to noon Mondays, August 1 through August 29, at the Flagler County Extension Service.
Programs will be presented by Horticulture Program Assistant and Master Gardener Coordinator Ruth Micieli, Environmental Education Program Coordinator Louise Leister Water and Sea Grant Agent with the University of Florida, IFAS Flagler County Extension Service Maia McGuire.
This informative series teaches how to save time, money and water in landscaping, and how to protect natural resources.
Program schedule:
Aug. 1 – “Right Plant, Right Place and Establishing Trees in the Landscape” - Louise Leister
Aug. 8 – “Fertilizing Appropriately and Managing Yard Pests Responsibly” - Ruth Micieli
Aug. 15 – “Watering, Mulching and Recycling Yard Waste” - Louise Leister
Aug. 22 – “Creating a Wildlife Habitat” - Louise Leister
Aug. 29 – “Reducing Stormwater Runoff and Protecting the Waterfront” - Louise Leister and Maia McGuire
Each participant will receive a Florida Yards & Neighborhoods Handbook at the first class. Participants are asked to attend the entire series, rather than a class here and there. Once the series is completed, all participants are eligible for a site analysis and Florida Friendly Landscape yard recognition.
