Head out for a post-Fourth beach cleanup

Friends of A1A collaborating partners Keepers of the Coast are sponsoring a "Morning After Beach Cleanup" 4-8 p.m. today, July 5.

After yesterday’s holiday festivities, this volunteer opportunity is being offered to those interested in lending a helping hand in cleaning local beaches and shorelines.

“While we all enjoy a good party, cleanups can be fun too!” the release for the event reads.

The effort complement’s Friends of A1A’s Adopt-a-Beach, and park, programs. Prizes will be awarded to the volunteer with the most cigarette butts found.

Below is a list of the access points were volunteers will gather for the clean:

Micklers Beachfront Park in Ponte Vedra
Vilano Beach Access Ramp
A-Street Beach Access Ramp in St. Augustine Beach
Crescent Beachfront Park
Fort Matanzas Beach Access Ramp.
