+ Kid’s Closet raises $865 for American Cancer Society
The Belle Terre Elementary School Kid’s Closet Clothing sale raised $865 for the American Cancer Society.

The event, held Friday, Dec. 9, in the school’s cafeteria, is a schoolwide service project designed to help provide children’s and adult-sized clothing to families in Palm Coast. Students were encouraged to rummage through their closets and donate any gently used items that no longer fit them. Each item was sold for a quarter.

This year’s event more than doubles the proceeds raised from the first closet sale in 2009. Year to date, the four events have raised $2,243.

+ FPC student wins voters guide design contest

She is the student body president and an officer of the Key Club. Hackworth plans on attending either the University of Tampa or Florida State University next year.
