+ City fireworks rescheduled for three shows in the fall
The Flagler County Board of County Commissioners approved May 2 $15,000 of Tourist Development Council funds for a Fourth of July fireworks display, which was ultimately canceled due to fire danger.

On further request from the city, the commission unanimously approved the reallocation of those funds for three separate firework events, at $5,000 each, on Labor Day weekend, Sept. 4, and at the Palm Coast Seafood Festival and a Jimmy Buffet cover-band concert, Nov. 5 and Nov. 6. The reallocation still must be approved by the TDC.

+ Shake-up in Palm Coast Data’s management team
President of Palm Coast Data LLC, John Meneough, has stepped down from his position, which he has held since 2002. He is expected to remain with the company as an adviser until the end of next fiscal year, April 30.

Theodore J. Gaasche was announced Aug. 1 as the new president and CEO of Palm Coast Data parent company AMREP Corp.

+ Flagler airport rated second busiest of its size in nation
Of 247 Federal Aviation Administration general non-passenger local airports, the Flagler County Airport was recently ranked as the second busiest in the nation.

The FAA Air Traffic Activity Data System showed that the airport tallied 171,766 takeoffs and landings combined.

In 1947, Flagler accepted control of the airport from the War Assets Administration. Since, it has leveraged millions in state and federal grants, which paid for projects such as the construction of the control tower. 

Roy Sieger, airport director, said the 2009 addition of the tower allows for greater safety and air traffic.

+ Palm Coast candidates tally campaign contributions
A total of $19,799.15 had been raised by eight candidates for mayor and City Council seats in the 2011 Palm Coast municipal elections, as of June 30. For more details, see www.PalmCoastObserver.com.

Deborah Williams is the new Education Foundation director.

Flagler County staff proposed a total of $7,691,301 in restricted and nonrestricted reserves for the general fund in the next fiscal year.

Palm Coast City Council — the next workshop is 9 a.m. Aug. 9, at the Community Center.
Intergovernmental meeting — a joint workshop is 5:30 p.m. Aug. 9, at the Emergency Operations Center.
Matanzas Woods Parkway — a public meeting will be held 6:30 p.m. Aug. 11, at the Community Center, to allow for public input on the design of the Matanzas Woods Parkway widening and Interstate-95 interchange.
Flagler County Board of County Commissioners — the next regular meeting is 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, at the Government Services Building.
Flagler County School Board — the next workshop is 5 p.m. Aug. 16, at the GSB.
