Volusia County Schools' high school graduation rate for the Class of 2025 rose to 95.6%, marking the third consecutive year of improvement for the school district, and the highest rate in district history.
VCS announced the graduation rate in a news release on Tuesday, Jan. 13. The 2024-2025 graduation rate is 1.9 percentage points higher than the previous year's graduation rate of 93.7%. Volusia's graduation rate is now 3.4 percentage points higher than the state's average of 92.2%, which the Department of Education reported was a record; the rate is up 2.5 percentage points over last year, and has risen by 4.9 percentage points since the 2021-2022 school year.
The graduation rate for Seabreeze High School was 98.6%, up from 97.8% last year. Mainland's graduation rate was 95.8%, up from 94.88% last year.
Spruce Creek High School had the highest graduation rate of the district's 11 high schools at 99.5%, up from 95.1% last year.
“VCS’s continued upward trend in graduation rate, including improvements across student subgroups, is a reflection of our ongoing efforts to provide a top-tier education to our students, including individualized support that ensures students are prepared for success after high school,” said Dr. Carmen Balgobin, superintendent of Volusia County Schools, in the news release. “Congratulations to our graduates, and thank you to our educators, staff, families, community partners, and School Board for their dedication to student achievement.”
Volusia ranks ninth out of the 67 school districts in Florida, as well as second of the 11 school districts in the Central Florida Coalition.
