Grand theft. A woman and her boyfriend are facing grand theft charges after they reportedly stole her father's guns and pawned them.
The victim called Sheriff's Office deputies and reported that multiple guns, ammunition, a compound bow and a crossbow were missing. He said since there was no forced entry into the home, he believed his daughter and her boyfriend and stolen them, according to an arrest report.
Using a law enforcement database, deputies found both suspects had pawned multiple boxes of ammunition, a bow and multiple firearms on multiple occasions, the report said.
The couple were located the next day at a separate service call, and, when questioned, admitted to stealing and pawning the items, the report said. The man had prior felony convictions for cocaine possession on his record.
The two are facing multiple grand theft charges for items valued over $20,000 but less than $100,000, several counts of dealing in stolen property and more charges for possessing a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon.
2:31 a.m. — First block of Rockne Lane, Palm Coast.
Burglary, drug possession. A Bunnell man was arrested after he was caught stealing power tools from a residential neighborhood.
A resident called 911 about a suspicious person walking around with a cooler full of power tools, according to an arrest report. Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the neighborhood and canvassed the area, finding the suspect as he threw objects from the road into the woods.
The suspect had a called a friend to come pick him up, but deputies detained the suspect before he could leave. The suspect was searched and deputies found a knife, a cigarette carton with a meth-soaked cotton ball and a needle with fentanyl on the man's person.
In the woods, deputies found a leaf blower, a drill bit set and a hammer among the items the suspect had tossed away, as well as a large cooler. The items were stolen from a resident's pickup truck, the arrest report said.
The man was arrested on burglary and drug possession charges.
