Petit theft. Police arrested a 67-year-old Daytona Beach man who attempted to steal $390 worth of meat by placing it in a store trash can and covering it with a shirt.

The store's assistant manager notified police of the incident and provided surveillance footage that showed the man entering the store and placing food items and the meat into his cart. He then put the meat into the trashcan and then put a sandwich, bottle of tea and cup of popcorn chicken in his backpack.

The store manager confronted the man about the theft, at which point, the man exited the store with his backpack, leaving the trash can behind. The prepared food items totaled a value of $14.67.

He was taken to jail.
