The commander of the American Legion Post 267 in Ormond Beach has been arrested on 40 counts of child pornography charges.

The Volusia Sheriff's Office reports that 57-year-old John Delage was arrested the evening of Friday, Jan. 9, at Post 267 for 40 counts of possession of sexual performance by a child. VSO stated that Post 267 staff cooperated with deputies who arrived to make the arrest and that the case began with a tip to the VSO Child Exploitation Unit from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

According to a VSO report, the agency received the tip on July 29, 2025. The tip originated from a sex chat room website.

A VSO detective tracked the provided IP addresses to an Ormond Beach home in Breakaway Trails, owned by Delage and his wife.

The VSO Child Exploitation Unit executed a search warrant on the home on Dec. 12, 2025. The repot states that Delage "answered some background information, however requested an attorney when asked about sex chat websites."

A total of 22 electronic devices were seized, including cell phones, flash drives and computers. During their investigation, detectives found over 200 pornographic images and and almost 50 videos of children between the ages of 1-12.

Detectives also found sexually explicit messages exchanged on different applications, where Delage alleged having sexually abused minors in the past.

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood responded to Delage's arrest on social media.

"Sickening and disturbing is the only way to describe this," he wrote on his Facebook page. "Thank you to our Volusia Sheriff's Office CEU detectives who do all they can to protect kids from the worst of society. Thank you to the deputies who took this scumbag into custody. And thank you to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children for staying vigilant and tipping off law enforcement about these sick cases all over the country!!"
