A new wellness studio is coming soon to Ormond Beach.

Four locals have teamed up to open a Degree Wellness franchise location at 175 S. Nova Road, Unit 1. Makenzy Landay and her husband Zach Coombs, along with Mitch Wilson and his wife Faith, have spent the last few months working with their Coleman Goodemote construction team to transform the former 2,800-square-foot restaurant space into a studio with eight private suites, a recovery lounge and an IV lounge.

Degree Wellness offers cryotherapy, saunas, light facials, compression massages, contrast therapy, cold plunges, oxygen therapy and red light therapy. The studio will open on Feb. 7.

"We hope that Degree will bring connection to the community and feel like a second home and a second family to our members," Landay said. "But our biggest hope is that members actually start to feel the best they felt in years and live happier, healthier lives with our services."

As someone who deals with chronic pain herself, Landay said she understands the importance of having services available that can help. Their services aim to help with fatigue, brain fog, stress, anti-aging and relaxation.

It was Wilson that learned about Degree Wellness and approached Landay and Coombs about opening up a location in town.

"We had actually been looking to bring something new for a while, and everything we found just didn't feel quite right," Landay said. "Then we found Degree, and it was exactly what we had been looking for. We are passionate about bringing wellness to Ormond and helping our community feel their best."

Degree Wellness isn't the first business venture for the four Ormond Beach residents. They bought the GoJuice location in town last year. Landay said this came after they decided to open Degree Wellness, and knowing there would be a long period of time before they were ready to open their doors, they jumped at the opportunity to purchase GoJuice, as it fit with their overall wellness vision for the community.

All four of them hold full-time job positions outside of their businesses as well. Landay works with Foundation Risk Partners on its mergers and acquisitions team and is also a real estate agent. Coombs is a senior manager of Global Fleet and Products at Amazon. Wilson is part of the sales team at Gartner, a technology research company, and his wife Faith is a stay-at-home mom of two.

Coombs said that part of his business motivation stems from wanting to bring services to Ormond that many larger city markets already offer. So far, he said, close to 200 members have signed up.

"It seems like people in Ormond are excited to explore more of these holistic services," he said, adding that they are still looking to hire a few more nurses for their IV services.

Degree Wellness is currently offering founding memberships of $199 a month for unlimited sessions, $129 a month for eight sessions and $55 a month for two sessions. Once open, the studio will also offer walk-in prices for single sessions.

Founding members have access to a "VIP week" starting Jan. 31 to try all services prior to the official opening. Visit https://degreewellness.com/locations/ormond-beach-fl/founding-membership/ to learn more.
