An 80-year-old Palm Coast man was killed in a four-vehicle crash on State Road A1A in Flagler Beach on Jan. 7.

The crash occurred at around 12:19 p.m. at South 26th Street when a pickup truck in the northbound lane hit two motorcycles and a propane freightliner, according to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, who is still investigating the crash. The propane truck had come to a stop at at South 26th Street, the motorcycles behind it.

The pickup truck — hauling a concrete pump — failed to slow and stop behind the motorcycles. The pickup hit a Tri Glide motorcycle, driven by the 80-year-old Palm Coast man, then hit the second motorcycle, driven by a 58-year-old Ormond Beach man. The 80-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene while the 58-year-old Ormond Beach man is in serious condition, the press release said.

The pickup truck then rear-ended the propane truck. While the propane truck and pickup truck drivers were uninjured, the pickup truck's 18-year-old passenger did sustain minor injuries.

S.R. A1A was closed from South 25th Street to South 27th Street while emergency crews and law enforcement were on site. One of the vehicles in the crash also hit a fire hydrant, according to a social media post by the City of Flagler Beach. Water was shut off to areas on South 23rd Street, South 25th Street and South Central Avenue while the damage was addressed.
