Shoplifting. A family of three were caught stealing power tools from a local home improvement store.
A woman and man, with the woman’s underage son in tow, attempted to steal a cordless jig saw, a cordless oscillating multi-tool and jig saw blades by hiding the tools behind the woman’s purse in a shopping cart. After placing the tools in their cart, they went to self checkout and purchased a pack of sandpaper, which they left on the counter as they left the store, according to an arrest report.
Loss prevention officers had called law enforcement and Sheriff’s Office deputies were waiting outside for the couple and child.
The woman told deputies she stole the tools for her son. Surveillance footage shows the woman taking the tools off the shelf and the man taking the pack of jig saw blades, the arrest report said.
Both adults had a history of petit theft or retail theft charges and were taken to the county jail. The child’s adult older brother took custody of him.

Retail theft. An Ormond Beach woman was arrested after she stole from a chain supermarket six times across two store locations in Palm Coast and Daytona Beach.
On Jan. 29, the suspect was caught concealing two makeup items in her bag while using clearance tags to purchase other, non-clearance items, according to her arrest report. The loss prevention officer recognized the suspect as a repeat shoplifter, and contacted the Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect had been caught on surveillance footage shoplifting from the chain's Palm Coast and Daytona Beach stores. In total, the stores had records the suspect had stolen from it on five separate occasions in November and December, totaling over $300 in stolen items and using other price tags to purchase more items at a lower price, the report said.
The woman was trespassed from the store and taken to jail.
