Dear Editor:
I offer you what no other mayoral candidate can: 37 years of dedicated public service to making our Ormond Beach community the extraordinary place it is to live, work and raise our families … and my steadfast commitment as your next mayor to make it even better.
I have a deep appreciation, and the institutional knowledge of just how our city has become nationally recognized as one of the best places to live. My record shows I’ve contributed to improving our outstanding quality of life.
As city commissioner since 2022 and current deputy mayor, I strive to ensure good fiscal stewardship and make every tax dollar count by maintaining low property tax and water rates, prioritizing public safety, improving infrastructure and addressing flooding, making amenities affordable for everyone and investing in small businesses — the backbone of our economic growth.
I’ve demonstrated my environmental commitment by launching strong opposition to the proposed Belvedere Terminal and more recently data centers, supporting the Scenic Loop, community gardens, and native plant projects, and driving improvements to parks, recreation facilities and public spaces.
My management skills evolved over 45 years of married life through the challenges of raising a family of seven kids while enjoying my nursing career and supporting my husband’s medical practice.
Through decades of volunteering with church, school, civic and nonprofit organizations, I’ve learned to collaborate and put others first. I listen and lead by example with integrity. I have an open mind, take a balanced approach to decision-making and focus on what is best for our community long-term. My core values include honesty and respecting all points of view. I live these values every day.
If you honor me with your vote, as your mayor my vision is to continue pursuing opportunities to improve Ormond’s quality of life for all residents. Everything I do on the City Commission is grounded in what is legally possible and practically feasible within our city government framework. The decisions I make are for the good of all residents. I welcome your ideas and constructive feedback as we are invested together in our city’s future.
