Seabreeze's boys track and field team utilized its talent and depth in the two hurdles events to finish second at the District 6-3A championships on Saturday, April 25, at Deltona High School.

Mainland placed third with Ethan Figueroa winning two jumping events. The Mainland girls also finished third. New Smyrna Beach won the boys title and Orlando Bishop Moore won the girls title.

Seabreeze won both boys hurdles events. Dominic Dowell automatically qualified for regional in both events with a first-place finish in the 400 hurdles and second place in the 110 behind teammate Drayton Brackett.

Alex Schargen placed second in the 400 hurdles to automatically qualify, and third in the 110. Four Seabreeze runners placed in the top five in the 110 and three were among the top four in the 400 hurdles, including Brackett who was fourth.

Other automatic qualifiers for the Sandcrabs were Hunter Shuler, who won the 3,200-meter run and Schargen, who was also second in javelin. Shuler, who is also headed to the state tennis championships this week as a doubles player, placed third in the 1,600.
