Ormond Beach nonprofit Cultural Awareness Fund, Inc., recently launched a new STEM learning program designed to bring hands-on education to elementary school students, particularly those in low-income and underserved communities.

The Chef Koochooloo program blends cooking, cultural exploration and science, technology, engineering and math concepts, according to a press release. It does so by connecting lessons to real-world activities like preparing food and exploring cultures from around the globe.

“Chef Koochooloo is about opportunity,” said William J. Sanchez, executive director of Cultural Awareness Fund, Inc. “We are focused on reaching students who may not otherwise have access to innovative STEM programs and giving them an experience that sparks curiosity, builds confidence, and opens doors.”

For the program, Cultural Awareness Fund, Inc. is offering scholarships and full or partial sponsored access to:

  • Elementary schools
  • After school programs
  • Community-based organizations
  • Nonprofit educational initiatives
