Children raced across the playgrounds at Tomoka United Methodist Church the morning of Saturday, April 4, during the church's annual Easter Party and Egg Hunt.
The free event, which began at 10 a.m., was open to children in preschool through fifth grade and welcomed families from throughout the community. More than 100 children took part in the event.
Before the egg hunt, children participated in a variety of Easter-themed activities inside the church, including a snack, storytime, games and coloring. Families also had theopportunity to visit with the Easter Bunny and take photos.
For the hunt, children were divided into three age groups — preschool, kindergarten through second grade and third through fifth grade — before heading out to collect eggs. Kindergartners were given a brief head start before the first and second graders joined in.
Pastor Katie Harrington said the church was pleased to welcome both church members and families from the surrounding area.
“Many families here are not from the church, so we’re glad to be having people from the community,” Harrington said. “We’re just excited to offer a family friendly event for kids to experience this Easter weekend.”
