Olivia Delgado of Flagler Palm Coast High School and Ava Muldoon of Matanzas High School were introduced on Tuesday, Sept. 23, as Flagler County’s Student School Board members for 2025-2026.
Delgado and Muldoon took their seats on the dais for their first board meeting.
Muldoon has a weighted GPA over 5.0 and has already earned her AICE diploma. She was junior class president and is National Honor Society vice president. Muldoon is dual enrolled and on track to earn both her high school diploma and associate degree from Daytona State College at the end of the school year.
“I think it’s great that Flagler Schools does this, to have a student on the board who’s immersed in their school community,” Muldoon said in an interview after the board meeting. “I have a chance to be a voice for my school.”
Delgado is an International Baccalaureate student, FPC’s National Honor Society president and the founder and president of Seeds of Hope community garden.
She said representing her school is an opportunity to engage more with her peers.
“I feel it’s just an absolute honor to be able to represent each one of my students, and I'm excited to engage with our School Board,” Delgado said.
Of all the academic, extracurricular and community service activities they are each involved in, they discussed their favorite and most fulfilling.
Muldoon said being a VyStar Credit Union student manager intern is one of the most satisfying.
“I give financial literacy presentations regularly to all the students of my high school, which is a great opportunity not only for me, but for my students to be able to hear in a classroom setting from someone their age about these topics that we so often talk about when not in school and are really important,” Muldoon said. “And even sitting behind the teller line or opening accounts for students is a really great opportunity.”
Another activity she finds rewarding is Future Problem Solvers.
“It’s a great club,” she said. “We address problems in the community and globally.”
Delgado is also concerned about community issues. Her IB Community Art Service project, Seeds of Hope, focuses on food insecurity and sustainability.
“That has been one of the most challenging, but one of the most incredible experiences I've ever had,” she said. “We've partnered with Ms. Maureen (Crompton), the director of Flagler Habitat for Humanity. And it has just been an incredible experience for me.”
