South Daytona woman killed in crash on SR 11

The woman's SUV crashed head-on with another SUV on Saturday, Sept. 20. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

A South Daytona woman is dead after two SUVs collied on State Road 11 in southwest Flagler County on Sept. 20.

The woman, 71, was driving north on S.R. 11 at 10:20 a.m. when her SUV left the northbound lane and crossed into oncoming traffic in the southbound lane, according to a Florida Highway Patrol crash report. A second SUV going south was hit head-on by the northbound SUV, blocking the roadway.

The woman, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene, the report said . The second driver, a 61-year-old Saint Johns, Florida man, sustained only minor injuries.
