A GoFundMe for the police officer who was killed in Ormond-by-the-Sea this week has raised over $52,000 in two days.

Edgewater Police Officer David Jewell was shot and killed by Circle K gas station employee on Monday, Sept. 15, after he walked inside the convenience store at 2460 Ocean Shore Blvd.

"To honor his service and support his family during this devastating time, we are raising funds to provide ongoing care for his wife, father-in-law and son as David was their sole provider," the GoFundMe states. "Any contribution, no matter the amount, is a meaningful way to stand beside the Jewell family, EPD, and community as they navigate this unimaginable loss."

The fundraiser has received over 460 donations, as of Thursday afternoon.

The Edgewater Police Department is holding a vigil for Jewell at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at Edgewater Alliance Church, located at 310 N. Ridgewood Ave.
