The Palm Coast Fire Department held its annual 9/11 Candlelight Vigil at Heroes Memorial Park on Thursday, Sept. 11.
The event commemorated the 24th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City. It was open to the public, and attendees all received candles.
“Nearly a quarter century later, 9/11 is a day that we will always remember, not only as proud firefighters, but as proud Americans,” said Palm Coast Fire Chief Kyle Berryhill in a news release. “We’re proud to be able to have this event each year to reflect and honor all of those that we lost on that day, as well as the thousands that have died since due to illnesses deriving from the recovery efforts.”
