The Interfaith and Community Resource Network will host a fall Sharing Conference, with a of "Help is On the Way," from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, in the community center of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, at 1014 N. Halifax Ave., Daytona Beach.

"Nonprofit organizations, government agencies and houses of worship offer an array of services to support the well-being of individuals and families in and around Volusia County," a press release states. "However, finding and accessing the available resources best suited for a particular person or need can present challenges."

Strategies for making such connections will be explored during the conference, which will highlight aid found in unexpected places, like the Volusia County Public Library having a social worker in the Libraries program to make referrals and the Council on Aging of Volusia County's Community Loan Closet, through which residents of any age can borrow medical equipment.

Speakers from the library system and COA are scheduled to appear at the conference, as is a representative of the Community Foundation and United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties, which provides the area’s 211 First Call for Help service.

Sources of assistance from state, county and city government agencies also will be discussed.

The event is free, including light refreshments.

"Open to all, The IC Resource Network's seasonal conferences are geared toward helping service providers and people of faith in and around Volusia County learn from one another and identify opportunities for collaboration," the press release states. "Network leaders encourage houses of worship, nonprofit organizations and government agencies to send participants."

The conference will include information tables staffed by nonprofit organizations and networking opportunities. Free vision and blood sugar screenings will be offered by local Lions Clubs. For more information, cal Sue Odena at 407-760-2304 or email [email protected].
