SIDELINES: FPC swimmers win 13 medals at Five Star Conference meet

Also: Three FPC golfers place among top five at conference tournaments. First Baptist volleyball repeats as district champ.

GILBERT WINS 2 TITLES AT FIVE STAR

Flagler Palm Coast swimmers won 13 medals at the Five Star Conference championships on Saturday, Oct, 18, at the Port Orange YMCA.

The FPC boys and girls placed fourth overall. The DeLand boys and Spruce Creek girls won the team titles.

The Bulldogs’ Emma Gilbert placed first in the girls 100-yard breaststroke. She was also on the winning 400 freestyle relay with Stella Guymon, Jade Hreib and Matilda Noble.

Alexander Rudik place second in both the boys 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke. Noble placed third in the girls 200 IM and 100 butterfly.

The boys 400 freestyle relay team of Noah Roznos, Kyle Pawulski, Esias Roznos and Rudnik placed third.


BULLDOGS 2ND AT FIVE STAR GIRLS GOLF

FPC placed second at the Five Star Conference girls golf championship at Venetian Bay and fourth at the conference boys championship at Daytona Beach Golf Club on Monday, Oct. 20.

Spruce Creek won both titles with the Hawks’ Vanessa Perry winning the girls individual championship with a 75, and her brother Carson Perry winning the boys title with a 74.

FPC senior Sophia Stiwich tied for the girls runner-up spot with DeLand’s Madison Dusenbury with a 77 at Venetian Bay. FPC sophomore Ivey Tsouklaris was fifth with a 79.

Caleb Zarraonandia led the FPC boys with a 76 to place third individually.


FIRST BAPTIST VOLLEYBALL WINS DISTRICT

First Baptist Christian Academy won the District 5-1A volleyball championship for the second year in a row. The Crusaders swept both Ormond Beach Calvary Christian in the district semifinals and Deltona Trinity Christian in the final, 3-0 in each match.

First Baptist, which finished the regular season with a 15-10 record, received the No. 8 seed in the Region 2-1A playoffs. The Crusaders fell to top seed Geneva 3-1 on Oct. 21.
