The Flagler County Commission recognized Medical Assistant Recognition Week with its first-ever Medical Assistant Proclamation at its meeting on Oct. 20. The proclamation honored the vital role these professionals play in healthcare and the local workforce.
The proclamation was presented to Salus Medical Training, a Palm Coast medical education business that has provided hands-on healthcare certifications in Flagler County since 2022. Lauren Ramirez, a registered medical assistant and owner of Salus, accepted the proclamation with Caylie Ardon, a newly registered medical assistant and one of 66 graduates of Salus' medical assisting program.
Ardon, a Flagler Palm Coast High School graduate, shared her journey into the medical field. Unsure of her next step after graduation, she enrolled in a short medical training program and discovered her passion for patient care. She is now a lead registered medical assistant at Sunshine Psychiatric Care in Palm Coast. Since completing the program with Salus, Ardon has decided to continue her education and pursue nursing studies.
The Palm Coast City Council and Bunnell City Commission also issued proclamations for Medical Assistant Recognition Week — Palm Coast on Oct. 21 and Bunnell on Oct. 13.
