The Grace Community Food Pantry in partnership with Flagler Broadcasting is conducting the fourth annual Million Dollar Food-a-Thon on Friday, Nov. 7, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. live on WNZF Radio.

“The goal for our Food-a-Thon is to raise money to purchase healthy, fresh food for over 6,500 local families in need,” food pantry director Pastor Charles Silano said in a press release.

Silano said because of high food prices many people are having trouble paying for essentials such as rent, car payments, medicine and school clothes.

“We would rather have them pay for those things by saving money on food,” he said.

Flagler Broadcasting President & CEO David Ayres said, “There are so many families in our community that are really hurting. Kids are going to bed hungry, our local veterans are struggling and many of our local seniors are counting on our help to make ends meet. Donations big and small make a huge difference in these people’s lives.”

With the food pantry’s 1:5 wholesale buying ratio, a $100 donation can buy $500 of food. During the past three years, the Food-a-Thon has raised over $200,000 giving the food pantry over $1 million in purchasing power.

David Ayres and Kirk Keller will host the four-hour radio-a-thon on Nov. 7 asking listeners to call in, stop in or make a donation online at FlaglerBroadcasting.com. All of the money raised goes directly to the Grace Community Food Pantry.
