AdventHealth Medical Group in Flagler County is expanding with the arrival of a new kidney specialist.
Dr. Mohammed Mahgoub is now caring for patients at AdventHealth Medical Group Nephrology, 120 Cypress Edge Drive, Suite 201 in Palm Coast. Mahgoub is a board-certified kidney specialist with more than 13 years of experience, according to an AdventHealth press release.
From controlling blood pressure to filtering waste from the body, healthy kidneys are "like the quiet custodians of overall well-being," the press release said. With a community where nearly one-third of residents are over the age of 65, timely access to this type of specialty care can make all the difference.
Mahgoub earned his medical degree from the the University of Khartoum in Sudan, completed his residency at Western Reserve Health Education in Ohio, and pursued advanced training in transplant and glomerular diseases at Mayo Clinic. Fluent in English and Arabic, he has also contributed to medical research and volunteered with both the Sudanese Ministry of Health and Meals on Wheels in Texas.
Mahgoub said he is excited about AdventHealth's "whole-person approach to care."
