It’s an itch that can be hard to describe. Lights flash. Sirens wail. A natural shot of adrenaline pops and first responders find themselves alert, sharp, and making critical decisions under pressure.
Fabulous.
But how do those outside of fire-rescue, law enforcement, or emergency management scratch that itch – take part in serving the community?
“We continuously engage in recruiting new volunteers for our Emergency Support Program Team,” said Emergency Management Manager Ryan Simpson, who oversees volunteers. “The training to be eligible is only two hours, and we’ve found Flagler County has a lot of residents who are wanting to serve the community.”
The next class to become a member of the Emergency Support Team will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 4. Registration is available here. Questions can be addressed to Simpson at [email protected].
