The City of Palm Coast is pleased to share a new, easy-to-read overview from DC BLOX that explains the purpose, design, and community benefits of the planned Cable Landing Station in Palm Coast.

This document provides clear answers to many of the questions residents have raised—especially regarding water usage, electrical demand, and neighborhood impacts—while highlighting the long-term economic and connectivity benefits this project brings to the community.

Unlike large-scale data centers often discussed in national headlines, this Cable Landing Station is a specialized, low-impact facility designed to support international subsea internet cables. It will utilize a closed-loop cooling system, meaning water is filled once and continuously reused, with overall water usage comparable to that of a small commercial building—not an industrial operation.

From an energy standpoint, the facility will operate well within existing electrical capacity. No new power generation or grid expansion is required.

Beyond its efficient design, the Cable Landing Station represents a significant investment in Palm Coast’s future. The project is expected to generate new jobs, strengthen the local tax base, and improve broadband and digital connectivity across the region—supporting businesses, schools, public safety, and everyday quality of life.

“The City of Palm Coast is committed to transparency and informed decision-making,” said Palm Coast Mayor Mike Norris. “Sharing this information helps residents have clear, factual details about how this facility operates, why Palm Coast was chosen, and how the project fits responsibly within our community.”

Residents are encouraged to review the document and learn more about how modern digital infrastructure can coexist with Palm Coast’s environmental values, neighborhood character, and long-term vision for sustainable growth.
