The City of Ormond Beach's new, redesigned website is now live.

The upgrade has been in the works for a couple of years. It was identified as a goal in early 2023 during a City Commission strategic planning workshop, going out to bid later that year.

In March 2024, the City Commission approved an almost $210,000 contract with Granicus, a software company headquartered out of Denver, Colorado. Of the total contract amount, $130,325 accounted for the website redesign, a one-time cost.

"Granicus knows the City's website aims to position itself as a true digital government space," the March 5, 2024, staff report states. "The website must be developed with streamlined ease of use for both citizens and staff, have a responsive design that adjusts to all devices, and streamlined functionality to promote the best user experience possible."

The remaining funds in the contract — $79,645.73 — were slated for video streaming, voting configuration and subscription fees, with set 5% increases for future years, according to the staff report. Video streaming for City Commission meetings has not yet been implemented.

Assistant City Manager Claire Whitley announced the redesigned website's launch at the commission meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 16.

"The content we're continuing to work on, so that'll be a work in progress," she said. "Once this new look is unveiled, the content will continue to be updated with new platforms and features for information, news and events."
