William Wheeler Magee, 86, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply. Born in Boston, Bill built a life defined by joy, integrity, and quiet, steady service. He spent many years in Palm Coast, Florida, and most recently made his home in Ormond Beach.
Bill was the son of Harold and Mae Magee of Massachusetts, and brother to Harold Magee who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Dawn Magee, who remained the center of his world from the day they met. Their marriage was a rare and beautiful partnership, full of love and deep devotion until his very last breath.
He is also survived by his sisters Jeanne Ordway and Carol Crowell, and his daughter Shelley Magee, his son Shawn Magee and his wife Jessie, along with his two grandsons, Chase and Jack Magee, who were the light of his life.
Family was everything to Bill. He showed his love through constant, generous acts of service. If you needed him, he was already on his way. His loyalty was absolute, his kindness effortless, and his smile contagious. He was the steady center of a very close family, and his absence leaves a space that cannot be filled.
Bill spent 40 years in education, first in Massachusetts and then in Flagler County, where he served as a guidance counselor, and administrator at both Buddy Taylor Middle School and Flagler Palm Coast High School. He also coached during his career and continued to coach tennis at FPC even after his retirement. His influence has reached thousands of young people and he always led with a servant's heart.
Outside of work, Bill found joy in his gardens, which he avidly tended throughout his life. He loved to travel. He and Dawn shared a life full of adventure, seeing the world together and bringing family with them.
Bill’s family is deeply grateful to the exceptional team at AdventHealth Daytona Beach. Since 2018, he faced multiple surgeries and long hospital stays with remarkable courage. The care he received there gave his family precious additional time with him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the AdventHealth Daytona Beach Foundation in honor of Bill’s life and the care that supported him.
