The cold front in Flagler County lifted, warming residents' hearts and honoring veterans at the Wreaths Across America ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 14, at Flagler Memorial Gardens in Flagler Beach.
Volunteers, community members, veterans, and scout troops gathered for the ceremony hosted by the Wreaths Across America veterans committee. The ceremony honored the values of freedom and fallen veterans who fought for our country.
After the ceremony with speaker Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Charles Gambaro, the presentation of colors and a performance by the Coastal Florida Police & Fire Pipes & Drums, attendees laid approximately 250 wreaths on the graves of veterans.
“We are here to remember not their deaths but their lives,” said Gambaro, who is also a Palm Coast City Councilman.
Veteran Vince Cautero followed with an emotional performance of “God Bless the USA,”
The Flagler Memorial Gardens Wreaths Across America event was among 4,900 events across America with “millions of Americans gathering safely as one nation,” Gambaro said.
