Nearly 3,000 athletes participated in one or more CLASH Endurance events Dec. 5-7 at Daytona International Speedway. More than 1,200 runners and walkers participated in the Jungle Jog 5K on Friday, Dec. 5, at One Daytona. The course included more than one million holiday lights and cookies-and-milk aid stations from Halifax Health.

Saturday’s activities included competitive and recreational triathlons and duathlons. Cyclists got the opportunity to ride on the speedway track in the Redline Relay, where teammates utilized the pit stalls, and in Test Track, a chance to ride without official timing.

On Sunday, hundreds of athletes competed in the Daytona Distance triathlon, and swimmers of all ages dove into the speedway’s Lake Lloyd in a Swim Across America event to raise money for pediatric cancer research and the NASCAR Foundation. Participants swam the 100-meter Dolphin Dash or the 1-mile swim. Olympic swimmers Jarrod Shoemaker (2008), Craig Beardsley (1980) and Paige Zemina Northcutt (1988) served as “swim angels” for anyone that wanted a swim buddy.

The weekend CLASH Endurance event included an expo village with multisport vendors, music and food trucks.
