When you have to go

3:54 a.m. — 600 block of West Granada Boulevard, Ormond Beach

Suspicious incident. Police responded to a local gas station convenience store after its store manager reported a man trying to urinate in an empty field across their parking lot.

According to the incident report, the manager was taking out the trash when she spotted the man in the field with his pants down. The manager told him that he couldn't urinate in the field, and he turned around while putting his pants up and responded to her, exposing himself in the process.

He then entered the store and started yelling, using profanities and telling all those inside that the store manager was lying about his intent to expose himself to her. He eventually got into his car and left.

The store manager told police that the man had gone outside to urinate because their bathroom was closed. No charges were filed.

Contest 'winner'

12:16 p.m. — First block of Cypress Grove Lane, Ormond Beach

Information. A 77-year-old Ormond Beach woman was defrauded out of about $60,000 after she received an email claiming she had won an $8.5 million sweepstakes contest.

Police report that the woman received the email in mid-September and that she was then contacted by a man who alleged he was an associate of the contest, as well as a bank employee.

The two proceeded to communicate via emails, text messages and phone calls, according to the incident report. Not long after the initial call, the man convinced the victim to send money to him to cover "fees and taxes" for her winnings.

When police followed up, however, the victim declined to press charges. She told police that she had received a call from an FBI agent and was told not to proceed with completing a police report "due to the concern of interference in their existing FBI case," the report states.
