In August, two teenage girls told deputies that they were walking through the Tartget parking lot to the store when a man in a gray Jeep honked at them and held up his phone, showing a photograph of a penis, according to an FCSO news release.

The girls entered the store and asked a store associate to walk them back to their car. But after they left, they saw the same Jeep while stopped at a red light at Belle Terre Parkway and Cypress Point Parkway.

One of the girls took a photo of the Jeep's license plate.

Investigators contacted the Jeep's registered owner, 26-year-old Palm Coast resident William Naughton, who admitted that he had shown a photo of his penis to women in parking lots around the county for sexual gratification.

Deputies arrested him on Oct. 10 on a charge of Showing Obscene Material to a Minor. He was taken to the county jail and released on $10,000 bond.

In October 2023, detectives determined that 37-year-old Alan Avellan Jr. had “airplayed” or “casted” pornographic videos onto his home's television while several children, including some of his relatives, were present in a common area of the residence on two separate occasions, according to the news release.

While casting the pornographic videos to the television, Avellan was reportedly lying naked on his bed and touching his genitals with the door open. The bedroom was in a clear line of sight from the home's common area, where the children were.

To keep the children from telling anyone, Avellan took them to a cosmetics store and bought them makeup.

In text messages, Avellan said that casting the videos to the TV was “just a joke.”

Deputies arrested Avellan on Oct. 12 on a charge of Showing Obscene Material to a Minor. He was taken to the county jail and released on $7,500 bond.

“These two perverts learned the hard way that our Major Case Unit and the State Attorney’s Office will thoroughly investigate and come after anyone who subjects juveniles to any type of pornography,” Sheriff Rick Staly said, according to the news release. “Not only is this disgusting and perverted behavior but it is traumatizing to young children. Hopefully these perverts will learn their lesson the first time — and if they don’t, they will end up back in the Green Roof Inn, and hopefully in prison.”
