Average gasoline prices in Florida decreased 12 cents during the past week, with demand at the pump tepid amid a slight increase in supply.

The AAA auto club said the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gas in Florida on Monday, Oct. 2, was $3.48, the lowest since it was $3.47 on July 24.

The lowest prices were reported in parts of the Panhandle and Central Florida, while some of the highest prices were in the West Palm Beach and Naples areas.

“Gas prices are moving lower, even as the price of oil remains near 2023 highs," AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said in a statement. “Now that the summer driving season is over, gasoline demand has declined, but gasoline production is stronger than a year ago. Gasoline futures logged a second-consecutive 18-cent drop, which should signal another round of falling prices at the pump this week."

Nationally, the average price Monday was $3.81 a gallon, down 4 cents from a week earlier, according to AAA. Florida’s average price was 21 cents lower than a month ago and 22 cents more than a year ago.
