The Palm Coast Fire Department has announced several promotions and hired eight new firefighters.
The city honored the individuals in a ceremony at the Palm Coast Community Center. The promotions mark a milestone in the department's growth, according to a press release from the city government.
Driver Engineer Jeremy Barton was promoted to lieutenant, succeeding Lt. Matthew Stevens. Stevens is now the lieutenant of Fire Prevention.
Firefighters Katelyn Baller, Fortunato Damiano, Joshua Meeker and Oleksandr Nikolayev were promoted to driver engineer positions.
The PCFD's new firefighters are Bruce Adams, Timothy Auerbach, Caleb Dann, Veronica Fernandez, Zachary Mahaney, Gunner Pemberton, Cameron Sena, and Jericho Taylor. All eight joined the ranks since the beginning of 2023.
Palm Coast Mayor David Alfin said maintaining public safety is a priority in Palm Coast.
"The Palm Coast Fire Department is unwavering in its commitment to residents and visitors, offering unparalleled service," Alfin said. "As we recognize the contributions of retiring fire officers and welcome our newly promoted leaders, we also extend our congratulations to the career firefighters who embarked on their journey through our firefighter intern program."
