Mackaylea Cody showed a steer and a heifer at the Livestock Show on April 12, at the Flagler County Fairgrounds. She was senior showmanship champion for her work with her 1,250-pound steer; she was grand champion and showmanship champion for her 990-pound heifer.

Madison Myers was grand champion; her steer weighed 1,458 pounds.
Connor Barton tries his best to keep his steer under control. Connor was the only show participant in the junior category to show a steer.
A family affair to support Connor Barton, as he showed his first steer: His father, Jeremy, walked the ring with him, as his grandmother Denise Barton took video, and his mother, Jill, looks on from the bleachers. Connor's steer weighed 1,193 pounds; Connor weighed 60. He was given the junior showmanship award.

Savannah Strickland was reserve champion; her steer weighed 1,335 pounds.
The Robbins family: Grayson, Bella, Luke, Alli, Hunter and Liam. The three youngest are members of Southern Livestock Growers, a 4H group in Flagler County. For this year's livestock show, they raised pullets, which are chickens under 1 year old, and all three earned showmanship awards.
For more than 30 years, the Flagler County Fair and Youth Show has given 4H and FFA group members a time to be celebrated for their hard work in raising animals in the winter and spring. On April 12, the weeklong festivities continued with the steer, heifer and goat show.

The show was judged by Dr. Cindy Sanders, director and livestock agent in Alachua County for the University of Florida Extension Office. Her family has been in the agriculture business for six generations. She told the audience that agriculture is the second biggest industry in Florida, behind Mickey Mouse.
"I appreciate you being involved in an industry that puts food on our table," Sanders told the show participants.
The livestock auction was scheduled to take place Friday, April 14.
