There's no place like home. Or, in this case, the Daytona Playhouse.
"The Wacky Wonderful Oz," is a musical comedy adaption of the classic film. The play was written and directed by Daytona Playhouse President Kathy Thompson, of Ormond Beach, and will open at the playhouse at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 16. Starring a sassier version of Dorothy, played by Ormond Beach resident Ivy Lee, the musical tells the story of her arrival in Oz, at which point she discovers she has squashed the Wicked Witch of the East.
Along with her new friends — Scarecrow, played by Ormond Beach resident Maya Palacios; Tinny, played by Samantha Rose Sibayan, of Port Orange; and Cowardly Lion, played by Remilio Lopez, of DeLand — Dorothy will set out on an adventure to meet the great magical wizard of Oz.
With a cast of 26 young local actors, the show is choreographed by Ashley King, of Ormond Beach.
